One of my favorite things that God has done this year has been allowing me to be a part of 2 women’s Bible study groups. The first one is in our own neighborhood. We have a lot of fun. There are about ten of us and it’s? a “Following Jesus 101” type study. Every night we meet, I walk away with new insights on following Jesus.
The second group I meet with includes 6 women. It’s amazing how God works things out. One of the women wanted to be a part of our Monday Bible study, but couldn’t come Monday nights. So, I asked her if she wanted to meet one on one and go through the study. She was all for that and then she proceeded to invite 3 friends. I recruited one of my great friends, Carol, in the Isle of Pines area for help and then she invited one of her friends. We call this Bible study the Moss Park Starbuck’s Bible Study. We have GREAT discussion, pray, and laugh.
The thing I can’t get over is that God lets me do this. Here I am, a 37 year old who has lots of issues of my own, and I get to participate in the lives of these women by sharing with them the little I know about our God. Every time I meet with these groups of women, I am blown away by God’s graciousness to allow me to be a part of their lives. I have to say that many times I tend to think everyone has it all together and I’m the only one struggling out in left field. But as I meet with these women, I see real hurts and issues, from death, illness, sickness, to unfulfilled dreams. God has really shown me that I need to focus less on myself and my problems in left field. I tend to get all wrapped up in me instead of looking at the needs of others. These women and their open hearts to me and God have really taught me a lot. I am blessed to know them.
Here’s a pic from our Monday group. Patty couldn’t make it that night. She’s the sweetest lady with a great Tennessee accent. I love just hearing her talk.
